Bermuda/Scuba planning
Expert: Michael - 10/12/2002
QuestionHi Michael,
Well, the most of this trip is already done. We've got our reservations to stay (in mid '03) and will make arrangements for airfare soon.
My question is about the diving in Bermuda.
We are seasoned divers but new to Bermuda. The attraction is the wreck dives and whatever else that may be there.
We will have some less expeienced, but certified divers (5 total) in our group, so we don't want do any 'technical' dives. We're just looking for a good memorable dive trip for a group of adult and confident divers (ie. no instruction required).
Any thoughts as to planning this portion of our trip?
Many thanks in advance!
Jim
AnswerHi Jim,
You will have an outstanding time in Bermuda. I am certain you will enjoy the pubs scene after a day of diving.
I am going to leave you with two links. Blue Watwer Divers is the preferred. They can be found at several areas of the island, the east end, the west end and central. I mention them because I don't know where on the island you are staying.
And I also understand that most operators cruise from the west end. But you will have lots of info to absorb with
the links I am sending you.
If you do stay at Sonesta by chance, they have an operation that gets great reviews.
Here you go.

Most diving will be relative shallow (30 - 50 feet) which will offer you more time in the depths. If you are not aware, Bermuda has hundreds of wrecks within the reefs bounderies.
Sea surface temperature will be 81 to 82 in July and August respectively. I'll leave it to you to figure the deeper temperatures. Remember the Bermuda sits in the Gulf Stream from where it derives its semi-tropical climate.
Happy planning!
Michael
