Hi Michael,
What do you think of September in Bermuda?  I sell cruises and have a couple of groups interested in September of 2007.  I know it's hurricane season but does that really effect their stay in Bermuda?

Hi Diana,

The weather in Berumuda for September is splendid.  I love September.  For me personally it is the best.  Hot and not so humid.  You are more apt to encounter a Bermuda High than low pressure.  That's what I feel about the weather in September.  It makes for a perfect vacation.

You sell cruises?  Good for you.  The department of tourism indicated a whopping cruise season this past quarter.  Their forcast indicates more yet and they are trying hard to get some passengers to return in a hotel.  Along with certain hotels they are offering $300.00 worth of Bermuda Gift cards upon arrival.  Wyndym is one of the hotels I read about.

Hurricanes ... let's see.  Most hurricanes during the June through November season begin their journey in the southeast Atlantic, off the coast of Africa or slightly northeast of South America.  Google Atlantic Weather Basin and you'll eventually see this.  They move west northwest towards the windward islands or the leeward islands and are first taken notice in the Carribean.  From there the projected path is most always towards southern florida either tracking to the Gulf or east coast florida.  These are the news makers.

Sometimes they move up the eastern seaboard of the US.  If they don't go on land they may move back out to the sea.  Oh Oh.  There lies Bermuda 600 miles off the coast of Cape Hatteras, NC. Occassionally they track north northeast towards Bermuda and skim to the east.

What can I tell you?  The cruise line will not intentionally put the ship in danger.  They either go elsewhere or leave early if a hurricane watch is listed.  They have their own meterologists on staff and take weather serious. To answer your question "Does hurricane season really effect their stay in Bermuda?" I would have to say no.  They would not be in Bermuda during a hurricane.  If one was approaching they would turn elsewhere and abort the vacation in Bermuda.

The north atlantic can naturally be treacherous later in the season but not often in September.  I would not be over concerned.
