Bermuda/Vacation - 1st week of November
Expert: Michael - 7/10/2006
QuestionHi,
My future wife and I will be going to Bermuda for a few days during the first week of November. We are most concerned about the weather during that time. We are active people, who like bike riding, hiking, etc., but we also like relaxing on the beach. From what I've read, the weather should be fine for the activity part of our trip, but we are concerned whether or not it would be too cold to relax or the beach and go swimming. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
AnswerGreetings,
I have not vacationed in Bermuda during November. The closest has been three weeks earlier and it was absolutly beautiful. Never-the-less I have consulted a climatology page for you that shows the mean collected over fourty-nine years. I further offer some experiential comments.
November:
Air, daily high - 74.5F
Sea Surface - 72.7F
Precipitation, month - 4.12"
Thunderstorm days - 3
Because these are monthly means I found a db revealing specific days and will show you what the most recent five years has recorded for the 1st and 2nd day of the month of November. Am I nuts or what?
2005:
1st - Air/Sea Surface = 78F/75F
2nd - Air/Sea surface = 78F/75F
2004:
1st - Air/Sea Surface = 79F/73F
2nd - Air/Sea surface = 75F/73F
2003:
1st - Air/Sea Surface = 80F/77F
2nd - Air/Sea surface = 78F/77F
2002:
1st - Air/Sea Surface = 80F/75F
2nd - Air/Sea surface = 76F/75F
2001:
1st - Air/Sea Surface = 78F/77F
2nd - Air/Sea surface = 77F/77F
Wow! I can't beleive I did that? But I think it is useful and will give you a sense of what you can expect the first week of November.
Relaxing on the beach depends on what you concider warm weather and ocean temps. Of course prevaling winds too which may be about 11 MPH. Bahaha!
Bike riding will be spectacular. Scootering would be even better. When you arrive pick up a Bermuda Railway Trail brochure. The railway has long been dismantled but the beds remain from the east end of the island to the west and they are of great interest to walkers and/or mopeders. The brochures will give directions for where you can get on each trail and what you would see. It also reflects which segments are walking only and which allow a moped. At the same time request a Handy Reference map and Transportation Schedule. You can call toll free (800)BERMUDA to request this stuff and will make for good planning.
If you did not catch one of my earlier postings regarding walking from Warwick Long Beach to Horseshoe Bay this may be something an active couple may very much enjoy (bring your camera).
I dare say the first week of November will excite you bringing you all the enchantment that Bermuda offers.
Happy planning!
Michael
