Bermuda/Walking trails.

QuestionHello Michael! One thing we want to do next month is walk from Warwick Long Bay to Horseshoe or vice versa. Was thinking of lunch at Tio Pepe to start or end with. How long would you estimate the walk to be and which is the easier beach to get back up to S. Shore road for the bus? Know that it's a killer from Horseshoe. Don't forget to leave a beer for Bill and Robert when you leave TH! Thanks Michael.
Robina.
AnswerHi Robina,
Strange meeting you here. Well, not strange but unexpected.
Without doubt the walk is practical beginning at Warwick Long. The vertical from Southshore road to the beach is greater here than the slope at Horseshoe. It is the most significant thing, Robina, that should impact your decision. I don't mean to relate that you may roll down the hill, but walking up would be laborious. Even more so than the walk up at Horseshoe. It could be thought of as exploring too. You will find trails in the brush and dunes further down as you approach the beach.
I don't want you to think that it would be like walking up the summit of Mount Chichora either :)
Horseshoe also has a paved entrance and sometimes you can even find a taxi waiting to whiz to up to the top, or even Tio's. Horseshoe has facilities in the event you care to get showered or change before leaving for Tio's.
The distance is shy of 1 mile. As you no doubt already know your journey will take you along the beautiful beaches of Jobsons Cove, Stonehole, Chaplin, and maybe others. My guess is that you will probably explore the many nooks and crannies along the landscape as you enjoy the dunes lined with grape trees, walk over huge volcanic outcrops (or is it coral?) and kick your feet in the ocean along the seashore. So it is hard to say how long it will actually take. But if you didn't stop the walk along this streatch of pink beach may be less than an hour.
Just ask the bus driver to let you off at Warwick Long and your journey begins.
On a personal note we are very much looking forward to TH. Won't the maid suck down the biers?
Happy planning!
Michael
