Bermuda/Water Temps in the summer
Expert: Michael - 4/23/2007
QuestionWe are planning a cruise to Bermuda and looking at several dates. What would be the difference in water temperatures for the beginning of June and the end of July? Thank you.
AnswerHi Pat,
The 45 year mean indicates that the surface water temperature in June averages 77.3F while in July it averages 81.6F.
To determine the beginning of June and the end of July let me offer the monthly mean for the shoulder of each month. May 72.1F and August 82.8F. With this I feel you can interpolate low to mid 70's for the beginning of June and low 80's for the end of July.
Traditionally June is known as a rain month. I don't mean to say you would be rained out. June just has more rain days. Both Linda and myself would prefer July over June. It carries with it a more subtropical feeling with the added humidity.
I always bring an umbrella to Bermuda just in case, even when expecting the "Bermuda High" cause you just don't really know.
Bermuda is a gem. Have fun.
Happy planning!
Michael
