Hi David,
The West End would be H.M. Dockyard.  Try the Frog & Onion Pub.  It has a great following.  A bit further Eastward in Sandy's you would find The Country Squire on Ely's Harbour.  Very picturesque for lunch.  This is accessible from Bus 7 or 8.
