Question
My husband and I (in our 50's) are planning on taking my dad (late 80's) to Bermuda in September.  We are interested in a two bedroom cottage/b&B or such.  No stairs.  Easy access.  This trip is for him so we won't be beaching, riding mopeds, etc.  We need a place that is central for things to see and easy to get transportation (taxi) to go places.  We are considering the Warwick House.  Is that a good choice?  We'd love any suggestions.  Thanks - Lynn

Answer
Hello Lynn,

You are on the right track in picking the "gem" of the Atlantic.  September is a delightful time to visit Bermuda.  Actually, exceptional!  Linda and I have selected this September to visit again.

I have never been into the Warwick Harbour View House.  My guess is that it is under new management, or at least operating under another name. I can tell you that the area is quiet.  Transportation may be akward ... slow ... time consuming.    That is to say the limited timing for a bus and the walk required to get to the bus may be taxing.  Darrell's ferry is down the road and a short walk.  This will take you on a wonderful scenic cruise to and from Hamilton.  But again, you will be on their schedule.

I cannot speak for or against the Warwick Harbour House. That does not mean anything other than I have neither been there or know of others who have.  I'm certain your experiance would be wonderful if you so decide to lay your head there. I mean that Lynn.  Just know that it is not central.

To be in the center (or near access to most) for meeting your needs I would suggest in town Hamilton.  Do consider the Rosedon.  A beautifully appointed B&B.  You could request a first floor room with two beds.  The Rosedon is a winner.  It has it all.  Breakfast delivered to your room and afternoon tea.  It is very near Front Street, Albouys Point (main ferry) and a bus stop, all of which offer access to everything.  The grounds are lush and the staff are lovely Bermudians.  Take a peak at my earlier writings on the Rosedon.  I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this small hotel, as it is listed, but I think of it as a B&B.  I doubt you would be dissappointed.

Happy planning!
Michael
