Bermuda/bermuda fish chowder
Expert: Michael - 8/5/2006
QuestionThanks so much, Michael. I will be docked in Hamilton and St. George. I think I remember where the marketplace is. My husband will be very grateful to you and I will pickup the rum and sherry sauce. I'll also check the website for directions.

I will be going to Bermuda next week and on our last visit we brought home canned Bermuda Fish Chowder. I want to bring it home again but can't remember where I bought a case of it. I think it was at King's Wharf but I don't remember
Can you please tell me where I can purchase this for my husband since he isn't coming this time.

Hi Karen O,
Have a bermudaful vacation.
Although there are several places to purchase cans of Bermuda fish chowder, or cases of Bermuda Fish Chowder, I don't want to make more of an issue than it is. After all, you are going on vacation. A supermarket no doubt will be your best bet for economy.
The foremost supermarket in Bermuda is called The Marketplace. They can be found in many parishes of the island. I'm not certain if when you were at King's Wharf this is where you picked the delight up. But the closest Marketplace to the Dockyard is on Somerset Road.
I visit the Marketplace on Church Street when I'm in Hamilton if I need something. It is a rather large supermaket similar to what we know here in the states.
If you care to see where Marketplace's are located visit them at www.marketplace.bm You may also write them at marketplace@marketplace.bm and query them on availabilty at certain locations, cost etc.
Remember Karen that traditionally Bermuda Fish Chowder is served with a dash of Outterbrige's Sherry Pepper and Gosling's Black Rum to taste. Who-ahh!
Listen Karen, chowder aside. Have a great vacation on the Gem of the Atlantic.
Happy planning!
Michael
AnswerHello again Karen O,
Your first note mentioned Kings Wharf. Your second note mentioned Hamilton and St. George. Kings Wharf is at the other end of the island from St. George. The square in St. George is King's Square.
So ... you won't be near the Dockyard I mentioned, or Sandy's Parish.
There is a small market, Somers Market, in St. George just off King's Square. It will be closer to the ship's dock at either Ordinance Island or Peno's Wharf when you are in St. George than The Marketplace will be from the terminals in Hamilton.
Happy planning!
