QuestionMy husband, I and our mellow two-year-old are looking for a comfortable getaway. Any suggestions on smaller inns or accomadations with some charm, easy access to transportation and in an area for someone interested in the character of Bermuda not the casinos?
AnswerHello Francesca,
You will find Bermuda very comfortable. It has lots going for a relaxing vacation. The island is beautiful.
My experiance is varied as far as smaller places is concerned. That is to say I have enjoyed several.
I would highlite one in particular for offering an inn type atmosphere, charm, accessibility to transpotation, and in an area of interest. It is the Rosedone. The Rosedon is billed as a small hotel due to the number of rooms. They have garden wings as well as the main house.
Breakfast can be served to your room, your patio or at the pool. A nice feature. You would also enjoy afternoon tea with finger sandwiches.
They are located five minutes from Front Street, Hamilton which is the downtown center of Bermuda. A colorful harbor town with many shops, restaurants and pubs (very English island). The ferry will be nearby for a pleasant ride to the Dockyard if you so choose. The bus system depot is close and the routes pass a block away.
The Rosedon offers complimentry R.T. taxi to a lovely southshore beach which is a big plus. You can use the facilities of that beach's hotel, Stonington.
You won't find any casino's on the island although a few gaming machines have recently made their way to Bermuda and the government is shutting them down as gambling is not allowed.
Do check them out at www.bermudatourism.com or go right to them at www.cost-rica.com/rose
Don't let the cost-rica fool you. I've no idea why that name is utilized. Totally Bermudan.
Happy planning!
