Question
We found a bottle of Seagrams Imported Canadian Whiskey with the seal dated 1948 in our in-laws garage.  The seal is intact and no apparent leakage, overall in very good shape.  What do you think it is worth?  Not that we are going to sell it, just curious.  Also, should it be very good when opened and enjoyed.  Saving it for a very very special occasion.  Thanks, Joe

Answer
HI Joe

Distilled spirits like this do not change much in the bottle, for better or for worse, because the alcohol levels are so high.  The good news is that this should be perfectly good to drink.  The bad news is that it doesn't taste much different from a current bottling.  As a result, connoisseurs wouldn't pay much more for this bottle.  I would estimate the value of this bottle at around $25-35.

Sorry I can't give you better news.
