Question
I have a sealed quart bottle of White Horse Scotch Whiskey. The bottle is in a metal gift box that is in immaculate condition. The bottle has the number 1855365 stamped on the front label. My mother (aged 96!) has no recollection of when she was given this, but wonders if there is any way to determine its' age or if it is of any value.
Many thanks for any information you may be able to provide!
Dave

Answer
Hi Dvae

Distilled spirits are very high in alcohol, so they don't change much in the bottle for better or for worse, the way some fine wines do.  So the good news is that your bottle should be just as good as the day it was bottled.  The bad news is that is hasn't changed much, and so isn't worth any more money to collectors.  I would estimate the value of the LIQUOR at under $75.

But the bottle and gift box is more interesting--and the fact that your bottle is full might add value--but the experts on bottles are at antiquebottles.com.  They are good people there, and someone should be able to help you.

Sorry I can't give you more exciting news.
