Question
I bought a bottle of Beameister Johannisberger Riesling in a tall yellow crock bottle that still has the red cap secure on the top and has never been opened.  The date on the label is 1972.  Net Cont. 1 PT. 7 FL OZ.  Can you give me any information to the value, if any, of this bottle of Riesling.

Thank you.

Answer
Hi Mike

This was a wine made for early drinking, not long term aging, and I am afraid it is well past its prime.  It will be thin, light, and acidic, with browning around the edges due to age.  1972 was actually quite a poor year in the Rhine, compared to 1971, which was quite wonderful.

SOrry to be the bearer of sad news, but this bottle has no value on the auction market.
