Question
I recently "inherited" a 1962 Chateau la Gaffeliere Naudes.  The label looks virtually hand printed and says it was bottled by Justerini and Brooks, 153 New Bond Street.  I was in St Emillion last year and acquired a cases of mixed vintage la Gaffeliere wines - but have no idea what this might be worth.  Any ideas?

Answer
HI Jacqueline

Unless this wine was stored in immaculate conditions, (and recorked about 25 years ago) there is a very good chance that it is well past its prime.  For that reason, the value is very tough to nail down.  At the top end, you might see something over $500 for it--but you would need to be able to document the storage conditions, and find the right buyer.

Bear in mind that it is illegal for private individuals to sell alcoholic beverages in the USA---so you would have to work through a retailer or auction house.  ANd they will take a 15% commission or more....
