black & white whisky
i have a bottle of black and white whiskey that was never opened it has no date on the label or bottle it is green glass,stamped into the bottom of the glass are raised letters and numbers sa893 line down p u c b 7 , the top is sealed with a white cap over a metal ring underneath then there is a cresent label the reads BY APPOINTMENT TO HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN
scotch whisky distillers james bauchanan & co ltd and the label reads product of scotland
" BLACK & WHITE " special blend of BUCHANAN'S CHOICE OLD SCOTCH WHISKY (this is the spelling on the label)
scotch whisky distillers glasgow & london
glentauchers distillery. mulben speyside then in red diagonally across the cream color label is N.A.A.F.I. STORES FOR H.M. FORCES on the reverse side is a diamond with black and white scottie's (in the center of the bottle) the circle in the center could you give me a date of bottling and a estimate of what it is worth.

Well...I can tell you it was bottled and labeled after 1952--that's the year that Queen Elizabeth was crowned, and anything before that would say "His Majesty the King."  This one was obviously intended to be sold through the armed forces stores in the UK.

But when it comes to what distilled products are worth, age really doesn't matter.  Distilled spirits like this are so high in alcohol that they really don't change much, for better or for worse, over time.  And as a result, they also don't appreciate in value the way some fine wines do.  The good news is that your bottle should be fine to drink.  The bad news is that it won't be worth much more than a current bottling.  I would estimate this one at between $30-40 or so.

On the other hand, the bottle itself may be collectible in it's own right.  Check with the guys at antiquebottles.com for more informaton about that.  They have a list of collectible and valuable bottles...
