Question
I have a bottle of I W Harper straight bourbon whiskey 100 proof made in 1973 bottled in 1977. It has the tax seal on it and it is bottled in bond also. Is it worth anything and worth hanging on to? It is also in a box. If you know about it or could lead me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Thanks

Answer
Hi Paula

Distilled spirits like this are so high in alcohol that they don't change much over time in the bottle.  The good news is that yours should be fine to drink.  The bads news is that it won't have appreciated in value the way some fine wines do.  I'd estimate yours at about what a current bottling of similar whiskey might sell for:  about $25-35.

Sorry that I don't have more exciting news for you.
