Question
I thought I heard of a drink called a Black and White.  My co-workers are saying no.  Please let me know.  Thank you.

Answer
Dear Brittany,

There is a brand of scotch whisky with a pair of black and white terriers on the label that carries this name.  You can see the background info on it at http://whisky.com/brands/blackandwhite.html

If you are thinking of a cocktail I confess I don't know of one by this name, though I did find one reference to Black & White as a half-and-half beer drink made from Stout (such as Guinness) with any light-colored beer. You could make it according to the directions for the better known Black & Tan:  Fill the bottom half of the glass with lager such as Harp or Bass and then slowly top it up with the darker Guinness, poured over the back of a spoon to preserve the layers.

Cheers,
