Question
Hi My dad had this decantor its about 18 inches tall made in 1970 is it worth anything? do people collect them should i drink it?

I can answer your question about the rum, but for the decanter, I will have to send you to another source...
Distilled products like this are so high in alcohol that they don't change much over time. That means your bottle will be perfectly good to drink, but it won't have changed in flavor or appreciated in value over time. It tastes about the way it did when it was bottled, and it is probably worth about what a current bottling is worth.
BUT--the decanter might well be worth a lot more than the liquid inside. For that information, you will have to contact the guys at antiquebottles.com. They are the experts in that field---and they are very helpful.
