Question
We have a box of Thornes Scotch glasses trimmed with 22 Karat gold fired into the glasses. The box stated it was compliments of Hiram Walker importers of Thornes Scotch. The box is dated 8-7-1968. We cannot find any information online regarding these glasses they are in the original box and are in excellent condition. Any information on these would be appreciated. They also have a Thornes crest emblem on each glass stating est'd.1831 10 Scotch.

Thank You,
Laurie Allen

Answer
HI Laurie

These were originally made as an incentive gift for retailers and consumers.  They are attractive enough, but Thorne's probably made thousands of sets of them.  My search through my usual sources doesn't reveal any of these specific glasses, but a few similar sets from other Scotch producers are selling for something like $10-15 per glass--at least that's the asking price.

You might contact the guys at antiquebottles.com, just to see if they know anyone who is interested.

Sorry I can't give you more exciting news.
