Question

brandy label
Hi there i have a bottle of brandy bottled under the prohibition act for medical purposes only. The seal has never been broken. But the cork started to rot years ago. It is slowly evaporating. Is this worth anything? should i keep it sealed. It would not taste good would it? being medical and all?
Thanks

Answer
Hi there

Distilled spirits like this don't change much over time--the alcohol level is too high.  So the good news is that this should be fine to drink.  The bad news is that it hasn't appreciated in value the way some fine wines do.  I'd estimate the value at under $50.

But the bottle itself might be worth far more.  Check with the guys at antiquebottles.com.  They are very helpful and have a ton of information for bottle collectors.

Sorry I can't give you more exciting news.
