Beverages/Vintage bottle of courvoisier vsop champagne

Question
I was given a large bottle of Courvoisier V.S.O.P Fine Champagne by the appointment of The Late King George VI which was produced in France.
It is housed in a "cannon shaped" stand with wheels and made from wood and brass. It has a hanging label on it which says" Courvoisier The Brandy of Napoleon Cognac". This was a gift when I was born back in 1963........ It has 2 medallions on the label saying Medaille D'OR Alger 1889, and Madaille D'OR Paris 1889. I would be very interested to find out more about this and if it is of any value. Awaiting your reply...Suzanne

Distilled spirits like this are so high in alcohol that they don't change much over time. The good news is that your bottle should be fine to drink--but the bad news is that it hasn't appreciated in value the way some fine wines do. This one is probably worth about what a current bottling of the same size would be: around $100-150 or so.
But the unique carriage may be of value to bottle collectors. I don't know as much about that, but the people at antiquebottles.com are very good about helping you out. Go to their site, and you may even find a similar bottle for sale at the current value.
Hope that helps
