Question

B and B
I have read your previous responses regarding vintage liqueur, but hope this might be different. I have an old bottle of DOM benedictine and brandy Le Directeur with initials A.L(I think) under Le Directeur. It is made by Benedictine S.A. Fecamp (France), sole agents for the United States Julius Wile Sons and Co. Inc. New York. It is 23/32 quart and 86 proof. The paper seal is intact with legible number and metal seal is riveted on. I have looked on many websites to find its equal, but I can't find a Le Directeur bottle, one with riveted seal or a gold (rather than red) seal. This bottle was tucked away in the back of my grandfathers bar cupboard for I don't know how long so it's in good shape. Do you have any ideas on its worth or where I can, at least date it?
Thank you,
Adam

Answer
Hi Adam

I am afraid that even this bottle is not one that will attract connoisseurs.  My educated guess is that it is about 35-40 years old, and the value might be something like $50. But as with the other answers you have already read, distilled spirits don't change with age, so this won't have appreciated in value. I wish I had better news for you. Sorry/.

CommentThank you! It was so hard for me to even estimate a date because I couldn't find any pics or info other than newer bottles.
