Question

Brugerolle Cognac
I recently inherited an unopened bottle of Brugerolle Cognac which I believe may have been bottled in 1947, although that is still somewhat unclear to me. The back of the label refers to it as a Cognac Napolean "Aigle Rouge" and a winner of 45 awards, all of which are individually listed on the label. Do you have any idea of the value of this bottle of liquor?

Answer
HI Sharon

I am sorry to have to tell you that distilled products like this do not change much, for better or for worse, over time because the alcohol level is so high.  Unlike some fine wines, these do not appreciate in value as they age.  I would estimate yours a about $40 US, maximum.  Sorry that I can't give you better news.

You might check with the people at antiquebottles.com, as they track the value of some collectible bottles.  It's possible that there might be someone looking for one like yours.

CommentThank you for taking the time to respond. I have seen you respond in a similar manner to others with similar questions so I half expected it wasn't very valuable. But I didn't want to drink it and then discover that it was "THE" one bottle everyone's looking for.
