Beverages/rum

Question
I have a bottle of Trocadero Rum 1890, still sealed with #8029982.  Bottled in Havana Cuba 90 proof.  Does it have a high value? I saw a bottle of 1929 with a price tag of $7500.00
Thanks,
Dave

Answer
Hi Dave

You may have seen a bottle with that price tag, but I bet you didn't see anyone buy it!

Distilled spirits like this are so high in alcohol that they don't change much with time in the bottle.  The good news is that yours is fine to drin,.  The bad news is that it won't have appreciated in value the way some fine wine do.  Yours is worth about what a current bottling is worth.

The bottle might be worth more than the rum. If you want to know about the value of the bottle, you might check with antiquebottles.com.  They have a great website, and lots of people who know bottles better than I do.

Hope that helps...
