Beverages/White Horse Cellar Scotch Whisky

Question
We have an original sealed bottle of Blended Scotch White Horse Cellar Whisky with it's original box.
At the top of the bottle it reads to have the royal warrant by the late king George V. Would you be able to place its value?
Thank you in advance for your time Paul!
AnswerHi Angela
Distilled spirits like this are so high in alcohol that they really don't change much in the bottle, for better or for worse. That's the good news: yours should be perfectly fine to drink. The bad news is that they don't appreciate over time the way some fine wines do. In fact, they don't appreciate much at all--yours is probably worth just about as much as a current bottling today: maybe about $35-40 or so, at most.
They don't vintage date distilled spirits, partly because of this, and partly because they really all come out of the same process and ingredients. So I can't tell you exactly how old your bottle is, but I can tell you that it doesn't really matter. Of course with the mention of George, it will be more than fifty years old.
You can always check with the guys at antiquebottles.com. They are very nice people, and have a lot of great information about collectible bottles. But my understanding is that the most collectible bottles are much older than this, or are unusual marketing examples in the shape of various cars, figures etc.
But drop them a note and see what they say....
Sorry that I can't give you more exciting news.
