Question

Benedictine
I found at a thrift store an old bottle Benedictine Liqueur made and bottled by Benedictine S.A Fecamp France 23/32 proof 86.  Julius Wile Sons and co.  I see some numbers in a red and white small label on the side with #'s 00967430 and has Antiquonum Monachorum and cant see the rest.  But bottom last label does not have the B on each side.  Can you tell me the year and the value?

Answer
Hi Wanda

In general those older bottles are not very valuable.  Because distilled products are so high in alcohol, they don't change much with age.  Unlike some fine wines, they don't appreciate in value, either.  So this is probably fine to drink, but it isn't worth any more than a current bottling of the same stuff.

The bottle itself might be worth more than the liquid inside.  You could check with the guys at antiquebottles.com to see about that.  But they are usually more interested in Scotch or Bourbon bottles.

Sorry that I can't give you more exciting news.
