Beverages/Prohibition era scotch
Expert: peter - 1/14/2012
QuestionI have 4 bottles of Ballentine's scotch, unopened. They are from the prohibition era. I also have the crate stamped Liquor control board of Ontario Toronto. On the opposite end, it has a card stapled to it saying Liquor control board of Ontario ,160 Nicholas St. Ottawa, Ont. The sides are marked from Ballantine's , Scotland... The bottles are in boxes that have the red wax paper seals across the tops from Ballantine's. The Bottles are wrapped in thick paper inside the boxes, and have wire seals around the paper at the bottle neck.
A friend found them in his grandfather's attic in the Philadelphia area. The bottles that have been opened are said to be very smooth and wonderful.
I am wondering what these might be worth, and how I might sell them. ( I am thinking of keeping one perhaps). Thanks for you assistance.
Answerhello Dave,
In general the older bottle's are very nice for drinking as the whisky in these bottle's are made from the old style whisky.
As to the value, I expect between 125 and 150 per bottle, selling them via ebay is perhaps the easiest, make sure you ad in the text the rules for selling liquor.
best regards peter
