Beverages/Buying Alcohol

Question
Hi Paul,
Is there any way that I can purchase alcohol from somewhere in the caribbean and have them ship it to me. When I was visiting a few of the islands on a cruise recently, I was shocked to find out how much cheaper everything is down there.

Thank you

Answer
Dear Ronald:

Sorry, but all alcohol imports to the US are regulated at both the federal level by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, and at the state level by your local Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. At both levels there are regulations and taxes, and to import by avoiding those would be a serious crime.  You have to have a license for the importation of alcoholic beverages, and then you have to have a state license for the distribution of them, to receive them.

Sorry for the sad news--but I wouldn't want to see you raided by the Revenuers!
