Question
I have a 4/5 bottle of King George IV blended scotch whiskey bought in 1951 -53.  Original seal unbroken with strange wire flip cap under lead cap cover.  Do you have any idea of the value of this item?  Mike

Answer
Hi Mike

Distilled products like this have such high alcohol levels that they don't change much (for better or for worse) over time.  The good news is that your whiskey should be as good now as it was when it was bottled.  The bad news is that it has not improved much, either.  I'd estimate this at about $50-75.

A bottle collector might pay more for this--but a connoisseur probably wouldn't. You might check with antiquebotlles.com--a great site for this kind of thing.

Sorry I can't give you better news...
