Expert: Paul Wagner - 8/2/2007
QuestionI recently received a single bottle of 4 compartments with 4 different liquors. It says Licores-Superiores Fantasia and the name of each liquor (Napoleon's Brandy 7995"a",Eau D' Or 8062"A", Liqueur Des Grands-Cloitres 7996"A",and Parfait Amour 7992"A". Any information you know regarding this bottle or its value would be greatly appreciated.
AnswerHi Bob
I literally just got another question about the same thing, six hours ago!
Here's what I wrote:
Here's what I found out about these bottles about six months ago...
I had never seen one of these until a few months ago, when someone else asked about them, but they do get some attention among antique bottle collectors. Here is a note from one of them:
"I know exactly what you are talking about. By an amazing coincidence I recently bought 2 such bottles at the Melrose House Antique Fair. (Please look in the Odds & Sods section) I estimate your bottle to be worth roughly S.A. R250 / R350. These bottle were a clever way of sampling the different wares available from a single distiller / manufacturer. Is it possible to send us a digital picture so that we may place the picture on the website. Regards Rod Comer "

The liquids inside won't be of much interest or value, but the bottle itself is apparently quite collectible.
