Beverages/Non-alcoholic Italian beverages

Question
While in Rome the other day I asked the bartender for something non-alcoholic, he offered me a beverage that many locals drink. He said it was an aperitif. It came in a small glass bottle that began with a C, it was orange in color and slightly bitter, he served it over ice with an orange slice. I can't remember the name of it, but i would like to know, and also if I can find it in the US. Thanks.

Answer
Hi Jen

There are a number of versions of this--including a non-alcoholic version of Campari.  I think you might have had the version made by Coca Cola---and I can't remember the name of it  for the life of me.  And I had dinner tonight with eight wine experts...and three of them also knew about this, and couldn't remember the name!

What we do know is that it is not available in the USA--so the non-alcoholic Campari is probably the best way to go over here.
