Question
How is it possible for a thermo to keep coffee hot and iced tea cold? it uses convection right?

Answer
Nope.  It uses insulation.  Whatever is inside is kept thermally isolated from the rest of the world...and so it will stay the same temperature for a long time.

A Thermos is just a very efficient ice chest...and your ice chest will keep things warm, as well as cold, if you use it that way.
