Question
I have an unopened bottle of White Horse whiskey dated 1742 on the original box. I want to know about the value, even knowing that it's a very common brand of whiskey.

Answer
Hi Daniele

I am sorry to be the bearer of sad news, but this bottle doesn't date from 1742.  It's a much more modern product.  The 1742 on the box refers to the date when the distillery was founded...and also happens to be the year that the great White Horse of Westbury was first identified by a local priest.  (This is a huge chalk figure drawn on the side of a hill in southern England) The distillery has often used the date on their boxed...not to suggest that the whisky is this old, but that the distillery is that old.

This bottle would probably be worth less than $50, more likely 20-25.

Sorry I can't give a happier ending to your story.
