Question
I was recently given a bottle of 'Charcoal Filtered Beam's Choice Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisley.  It is in a blue bottle which was for the 170th Birthday.
Would you know the value? the age of the bottle?  It is still with the seal.
Thank you.

Answer
Dear B:

I can't find a value for this wine, but since the Jim Beam distillery celebrated its 200th birthday in 1995, this one must be from about 1965.  Distilled spirits like whiskey do not improve in the bottle, so they do not usually appreciate in value over time...but this is undoubtedly one of Jim Beam's best, and as such should be a very nice, balanced, and elegant bottle of whiskey.  A bottle collector might be more willing to pay for this than a wine or spirits collector.
