Question
i am wondering how i can date a bottle of chivas 12.  my
grandfather had this bottle for you and recently passed away.  how
can i find out the date of this bottle?

Hi Jacob:

The only real way to date the bottle is to compare the packaging with a historical record of Chivas.  The folks at Chivas might be able to help with that...but bear in mind that distilled spirits do not improve with age or value in the bottle.  There is simply too much alcohol for anything to change.  So while you may have a certain curiosity about this, the age of the bottle isn't really going to affect what it inside.  

I would choose a special occasion and open it with friends and family.  It should be a really nice bottle of Scotch.
