QuestionIn the episode "You Say It's Your Birthday" the one with Steve's birthday party on the yacht. Why are Steve and Brandon chase Colin before he's arrested and what is is sorry to Valerie for?.. I'm very confused on that whole situation.
AnswerColin was arrested for cocaine possession and for evading police. He had led police on a high speed chase. He was going to get a public defender, but Valerie was dating him at the time, so she paid for a high priced lawyer. His bail was very expensive, so in order to pay for it, Valerie put up the After Dark at collateral which included Nat's share of the club. Colin was going to turn himself in for prison, but just as he was about to, he got scared and took off in Valerie's car. If Colin got away, Nat and Valerie would lose the money that Valerie risked for his bail, so they needed to find him. They almost caught him with Kelly's help in a set up with the police, but Colin realized that something was up so he took off again. Jonesy sent an FBI agent to help them, and when they were on the Queen Mary for Steve's birthday, Colin was still missing. The agent told them that he was probably heading to Mexico, but for some reason, probably because he still wanted to see Kelly, Colin stalled and stayed in southern California. Brandon and Steve went to a bar because Susan had just broken up with Brandon and Steve had gotten in a fight with Clare. They saw Colin at a strip club just as they were fighting with the short guy who was antagonizing Steve, and as soon as Colin saw them, he took off running. Brandon and Steve chased Colin to help Valerie and Nat. When they caught Colin, he told Valerie that he was sorry because he punked her by taking her money and running. Kelly had helped too which is the reason that Valerie says thank you to her, and she responds "I wish I could say it was a pleasure but it wasn't" and then Valerie says "the feeling's mutual." I hope that helps!
