"In the original airing of episode 246, when Valerie leaves the show, there is
music playing in the background.  Several friends and I have been looking for
that song since it aired- i need to know who sang it or what it is called.  I
read somewhere that due to licensing the original soundtrack may have been
changed but i NEED TO KNOW what this song is."

Hi Danielle,

Well, I have good news and bad news.  The good news is that the track will, in fact, be featured in the S9 DVD release.  Unfortunately, I can say this because I believe it's part of the instrumental score for the show, which requires no license fees but isn't available to the public.  The musical composer for "You Say Goodbye, I Say Hello" is Jay Gruska if you'd like to pursue this further.  I admit, at times it does sound like an instrumental cover is being done for another song, but I can't identify which.  It is quite beautiful.

Well, I began watching "Beverly Hills, 90210" at the tender age of 9 and a half, during its original run. By 11, I was a huge fan; 13, obsessed; 14, growing bitter. I don't like S6 - S10 as much as Seasons 1 - 5. But, technically, I still watch all of them in some way. Do this for 20 years and you'll remember the darndest things.

I'd like to say I've earned a "degree" on the life and times of the original eight, with specific concentration on Seasons 1 thru 5, any Jack McKay drama, Dylan/Kelly together or apart, and the guest stars of 1992-1994. Season 4, I think, was the best and strikingly different from any other. My only weakness might be later-season 'stand-in' characters like Matt and Noah, and the ever-changing ownerships of The AfterDark.
