QUESTION: Was there a reason why Luke Perry wasn't present in the majority of season 6?

ANSWER: Luke perry left the show after the episode "one wedding and a funeral" to pursue a film career. The film idea never really worked out and when jason priestley left the show in season 9, 90210 offered luke a lot of money to return so they would have another main male cast member to star. He came back in "you say goodbye I say hello" in the episode that tiffani leaves in in season 9. Luke is not present in the back half of season 6, season 7, season 8, or the first 6 episodes of season 9. I hope that helps!

Jamie walters appears after the trial in the episode before the season 6 finale "ray of hope". Donna and david are asked to produce a music video for ray. He has turned his life around and has a new girlfriend who knows everything about his past. Donna is very impressed with his progress. Donna loses her virginity to davis in the last episode of season 7 after they graduate from california university
