Beverly Hills 90210/Kelly

Question
QUESTION: Hi Mel.  I haven't watched much of Seasons 9 or 10.  I was wondering, does Kelly live in the beach apartment the whole time during those two seasons, or does she move in with Matt at some point?  If she does, how long does she live with him for?  Thanks!

ANSWER: Hi Tara,

Yes, Kelly remains at the beach apartment for all of S9 and S10.  What might be causing confusion is that Matt moves into the Walsh house shortly after his arrival, in exchange for providing legal services for The Beverly Beat, Steve's magazine.  There are also several nights where he stays over at her place ("Laying Pipe", "Nine Yolks Whipped Lightly", "Spring Fever", "And Don't Forget to Give Me Back My Black T-Shirt", all S10) and at least one where she almost stays at his ("How To Be The Jerk Women Love", S9).  Matt asks Kelly if she'd like to move in with him, to a new location, mid-S10 ("The Loo-Ouch", 10.05).  Her answer is 'no', citing that she likes things the way they are, being roommates with Donna and not feeling pressured to move forward at the same pace as the friends around her who are getting married and starting a family (i.e., Steve/Janet).

Thanks for the question!

All the best,

Mel

QUESTION: Thanks for your response Mel.  I was browsing through a Dylan/Kelly thread in one of the forums and I saw this quote: "The Only Reason I'm Here Is To Be With You."  Can you tell me which epsisode this is from?  And does Dylan say it to Kelly or vice versa?  Sorry if it's not enough info.  Thanks again.

Answer
Your welcome, Tara.  And to answer your follow-up question, the quote, "The only reason I'm here is to be with you", is from the episode "Radio Daze", 4.05, said by Dylan to Kelly.  He decides to come to the Freshman pool party after all and sees John Sears flirting with Kelly, his girlfriend at the time.  Once John leaves, after experiencing some hostility from Dylan, Kelly says, "We could have a fight right now, but that's not why you came, is it?"  And Dylan replies, "No", going on to state the above quote.

All the best,

Mel

Can Dylan solve quadratic equations? What makes up a "mega-burger"? If an answer exists, I probably know it. Whether your question is general, begging the context of all 10 seasons, or completely inane, feel free to drop me a line either way. I will provide episode reference numbers for each response and plan to have some fun with this. Trivia quizzes often need correction, and publications will get their plotlines/characters/relationships mixed up too. I accept dialogue/scene requests, but please limit your inquiry to 1-2 per question. I only know music from the original broadcasts/reruns, not the DVDs. Been a fan since 1990 and didn't miss a beat.

Experience

Well, I began watching "Beverly Hills, 90210" at the tender age of 9 and a half, during its original run. By 11, I was a huge fan; 13, obsessed; 14, growing bitter. I don't like S6 - S10 as much as Seasons 1 - 5. But, technically, I still watch all of them in some way. Do this for 20 years and you'll remember the darndest things.

Education/Credentials
I'd like to say I've earned a "degree" on the life and times of the original eight, with specific concentration on Seasons 1 thru 5, any Jack McKay drama, Dylan/Kelly together or apart, and the guest stars of 1992-1994. Season 4, I think, was the best and strikingly different from any other. My only weakness might be later-season 'stand-in' characters like Matt and Noah, and the ever-changing ownerships of The AfterDark.
