Question
Hi Mel! Sorry to be a pain but could you please give me the scene dialogue from the episode "Somewhere in the world it's Christmas" in season 4? The scene I would like is the scene when Dylan comes to the Walsh house to drop off gifts before they leave on their trip. Thank you very much in advance.

Answer
Hi Kaelyn,

Sorry for the delay.  Here is the scene at the Walsh House, Christmas, S4.  "FL" stands for flashback.

(All come into dining area talking)

Cindy: You know, I'm so glad we didn't rush over there on an early flight.  This way, we get to spend a traditional Christmas Eve supper in our own home.
Brandon: (playful/sarcastic, as all his comments will be) Yeah, who wants to rush off to Hawaii anyway?
C: Brandon, are you making fun of me?
Brandon: No, mom, I would never do that. As a matter of fact, this is the best Christmas luau you've ever whipped up.  I'm especially fond of your cranberry and poi chutney.
Jim: Brandon's on a role.
Brenda: Well, I have to agree with mom.  I'm glad that we decided to take the later flight.  This way we all got to sleep in.
Bn: Anything to avoid the flight over the ocean, huh, sis?
C: Brenda, you're not anxious about flying, are you?
B: No, not really. (brother and sister exchange glances)
Bn: Mom, would you pass me the sweet potatoes, please?
C: Sure, honey.  But first, I would just like to take a moment to give thanks.  And say how blessed I feel to be spending another Christmas with the people I love most in the world.
J: Amen.
Bn: Sure beats the first Christmas we had here, huh, mom?
C: What are you talking about?  Our first Christmas in California was lovely.
Bn: Talk about a selective memory.
B: Really, mom.  Have you completely forgotten what happened that year?  It was like a hundred degrees out, we were in the middle of a drought, and you were homesick.
Bn:  And you were none too pleased with the pathetic-looking Christmas tree that dad and I brought home.

[FL]

C: (sheepish) Oh, yes, it's starting to come back to me.
B: Do you remember Santa Claus?
C: Oh, who could forget Santa?
J: Where did you ever find that guy, anyway?
B: Hey, he found me.  Remember, I was working at that trendy boutique on Robertson with that creep, Diedre, who kicked him out even though he wasn't hurting anyone.

[FL]

And then the cops started hassling him.

[FL]

And one thing led to another.

[FL]

C: Well, fortunately for us, Santa Claus turned out to be a wonderful person.
J: You know what I remember the most about that guy?
B: The same thing we all remember the most.

[FL]

Doorbell sounds.

Bn: Hey, mom, if that's Santa Claus, tell him I can get him a great deal on some stuffed reindeer.
C: Oh, stop.
J: Hey.
B: So when is the airport shuttle coming to pick us up?
J: Plane doesn't leave for another 4 hours, honey.

D: (entering) Yo, ho, ho, and a Merry Christmas!
Bn: If it isn't Dylan.  What are you, Santa's little helper?
D: Something like that.  Anyway, I bring you presents.  All of you.
(to Cindy, hands gift) Merry Christmas.
C: Oh!  Thank you, Dylan.
D: And, would you give this to Iris when you get to Maui? (hands another gift)
C: I'd be happy to.  I can't wait to see her.
J: So where are you gonna be spending the holidays, son? (hands gift to Brandon)
Bn: Ah, thanks, bro.
D: (pointing) I'm goin' to Baja.
Bn: Baja, California.  Favorite recreation spot of Brenda Walsh.  Dylan, sit down and join us, please, as we take another long trip down memory lane.
B: Let's not and say we did. (short kiss on the mouth; D hands her a present)
D: There you go.  Merry Christmas, everybody.  (saluting) I bid you adieu, have a great trip, and I'll see you later.
C:  Won't you sit down and eat with us?
D: No, I can't.  I've got one more stop to make.  But you know what?  Cin, do yourself a favor.  When you get over there, to Maui, it's so beautiful, you're gonna sit there, you're gonna look out over the volcano ... catch one of those sunrises, you know what I'm sayin'? (giant smile) See ya.
B: Bye ...
Bn: I didn't know Dylan was such a fool for Christmas.
B: Yeah, me either.

Thanks for the question!

All the best,

Mel

Can Dylan solve quadratic equations? What makes up a "mega-burger"? If an answer exists, I probably know it. Whether your question is general, begging the context of all 10 seasons, or completely inane, feel free to drop me a line either way. I will provide episode reference numbers for each response and plan to have some fun with this. Trivia quizzes often need correction, and publications will get their plotlines/characters/relationships mixed up too. I accept dialogue/scene requests, but please limit your inquiry to 1-2 per question. I only know music from the original broadcasts/reruns, not the DVDs. Been a fan since 1990 and didn't miss a beat.

Experience

Well, I began watching "Beverly Hills, 90210" at the tender age of 9 and a half, during its original run. By 11, I was a huge fan; 13, obsessed; 14, growing bitter. I don't like S6 - S10 as much as Seasons 1 - 5. But, technically, I still watch all of them in some way. Do this for 20 years and you'll remember the darndest things.

Education/Credentials
I'd like to say I've earned a "degree" on the life and times of the original eight, with specific concentration on Seasons 1 thru 5, any Jack McKay drama, Dylan/Kelly together or apart, and the guest stars of 1992-1994. Season 4, I think, was the best and strikingly different from any other. My only weakness might be later-season 'stand-in' characters like Matt and Noah, and the ever-changing ownerships of The AfterDark.
