Question
Hi Mel! I was wondering if you could give me the dialogue from the scene in "Parental Guidance Recommended" from season 3 between Brenda and Iris. The scene is in Brenda's bedroom. Thank you.

Answer
Hi Christina,

Here is the scene from "Parental Guidance Recommended", S3, between Brenda and Iris in her bedroom.

Iris holds up a necklace with a crystal attached to the end of it.

Iris: Crystals provide a shield from negative energy.
Bren: What are you supposed to do with it?
Iris: Just hold it close. Wear it around your neck if you'd like. Let it help to make you stronger. (she gives her the necklace)
Bren: I'll try anything right about now.
Iris: Like everything else, Brenda, even despair eventually exhausts itself.
Bren: Well, it's exhausting me.
Iris: Your relationship with Dylan isn't over.  This is just one moment in a very long lifetime.
Bren: I'm not sure what Dylan told you, but it is definitely over.  (going over to her box of things) All that's left now is headed right for the trash.
Iris: Close your eyes.
Bren: What?
Iris: Close your eyes and get a mental picture of the happiest time you and Dylan had together.
Bren: Is this some kind of New Age visualization thing?
Iris: Just do it.  (She closes her eyes) Can you see it?  Is there something in that box from that time? (Brenda smiles)  Your relationship with Dylan is far deeper than a box full of memories.  You stood by him when no one else did.
Bren: Great.  So he thanks me by falling in love with my best friend.
Iris: A wise man once said, "Salvation is attained by being so clearheaded and inwardly strong you can meet your opponent halfway.
Bren: I can't ever imagine being that clearheaded or that strong.
Iris: You already are.
Bren: Well, I do feel a little better.
Iris: Good.
Bren: It must be the crystal.
Iris: Maybe. Then again, maybe it's you.

Thanks for the question!

All the best,

Mel

Can Dylan solve quadratic equations? What makes up a "mega-burger"? If an answer exists, I probably know it. Whether your question is general, begging the context of all 10 seasons, or completely inane, feel free to drop me a line either way. I will provide episode reference numbers for each response and plan to have some fun with this. Trivia quizzes often need correction, and publications will get their plotlines/characters/relationships mixed up too. I accept dialogue/scene requests, but please limit your inquiry to 1-2 per question. I only know music from the original broadcasts/reruns, not the DVDs. Been a fan since 1990 and didn't miss a beat.

Experience

Well, I began watching "Beverly Hills, 90210" at the tender age of 9 and a half, during its original run. By 11, I was a huge fan; 13, obsessed; 14, growing bitter. I don't like S6 - S10 as much as Seasons 1 - 5. But, technically, I still watch all of them in some way. Do this for 20 years and you'll remember the darndest things.

Education/Credentials
I'd like to say I've earned a "degree" on the life and times of the original eight, with specific concentration on Seasons 1 thru 5, any Jack McKay drama, Dylan/Kelly together or apart, and the guest stars of 1992-1994. Season 4, I think, was the best and strikingly different from any other. My only weakness might be later-season 'stand-in' characters like Matt and Noah, and the ever-changing ownerships of The AfterDark.
