Question
QUESTION: Hey Mel! I was wondering if you could give me the scene dialogue between Brenda and Jim in "The Twins, The Trustee and the Very Big Trip" The scene I would like is the one they have on the beach before Brenda goes to Paris. Thank you.

ANSWER: Hi Brenda,

Here is the scene from 3.02, "The Twins, The Trustee, and The Very Big Trip", as Brenda and Jim walk across the beach.

Jim: Obviously, these past few weeks have been very rocky.  Frankly, life's too short to be fighting with you all the time.

Brenda: I know.

Jim: You're gonna be a senior next year.  You're gonna be going to college.  You have your whole life ahead of you.  It's no fun going through life without the love and support of your parents.  Believe me, I know what that feels like.  So, when you're in Paris this summer, I would hope that you'll think long and hard about the kind of relationship you want to have with me and your mother and your brother.  ... If I don't stop talking, you're gonna miss the plane. (They both smile)

Brenda: Thanks, daddy.  Not just for sending me, but for giving me another chance.

Sappy music sounds.  They hug.

Thanks for the question!

All the best,

Mel

QUESTION: Sorry to bug you again. Do you happen to have the scene dialogue between Brenda and Jim from the season 2 episode "Summer Storm"? The scene is in the Walsh kitchen. If you don't have it, that's ok. Sorry to be a pain.

Answer
Hi Brenda,

Well, I don't happen to have any of these scenes, per say.  I write out the dialogue upon request.  I would, however, much rather receive quandary-based questions than scene requests, and will now note this in my profile.  Anyway, I don't mind following up with you.  Here is the scene from "Summer Storm", S2, between Brenda and Jim in the Walsh kitchen.

Brenda is loading the dishwasher and clearly angry.

Jim: Brenda, how many times do I have to tell you?  You put the dinner plates with the dinner plates.
Brenda: I know how to load a dishwasher.
J: And then you put the bowls with the bowls.  And that way you get a lot more room and you can get a lot more in there, you know?  I mean, come on, Brenda.  There's a right way and a wrong way to do thing.
B: And then there's the Walsh way.
J: Well, it works for me.
B: I'm not talking about dishes, dad.
J: So far, the Walsh way of raising kids has worked pretty well.
B: Maybe we're done being raised.
J: You think so?
B: (tears) You didn't have to throw him out, dad.
J: I didn't throw him out.
B: You might as well have!
J: I told him he could stay until he was well.
B: You did not!  You told him he had to leave in two days.  How do you think that made him feel?  He had to sleep on a beach!
J: I know you care about him.
B: I do, dad.  I have to help him.  Please help me. (He hugs her)
J: Okay, okay, okay ... It's gonna be alright.  We'll all take care of him.
B: We will?
J: (sigh) You just got to understand, Brenda.  One minute, you're my little girl, and then ... all of a sudden, you're taking pregnancy tests?  Things are moving kind of fast for your old man.
B: Well maybe I'm not your little girl anymore.
J: (He grabs her face and looks sentimental) You'll always be my little girl.

They hug.

All the best,

Mel

Can Dylan solve quadratic equations? What makes up a "mega-burger"? If an answer exists, I probably know it. Whether your question is general, begging the context of all 10 seasons, or completely inane, feel free to drop me a line either way. I will provide episode reference numbers for each response and plan to have some fun with this. Trivia quizzes often need correction, and publications will get their plotlines/characters/relationships mixed up too. I accept dialogue/scene requests, but please limit your inquiry to 1-2 per question. I only know music from the original broadcasts/reruns, not the DVDs. Been a fan since 1990 and didn't miss a beat.

Experience

Well, I began watching "Beverly Hills, 90210" at the tender age of 9 and a half, during its original run. By 11, I was a huge fan; 13, obsessed; 14, growing bitter. I don't like S6 - S10 as much as Seasons 1 - 5. But, technically, I still watch all of them in some way. Do this for 20 years and you'll remember the darndest things.

Education/Credentials
I'd like to say I've earned a "degree" on the life and times of the original eight, with specific concentration on Seasons 1 thru 5, any Jack McKay drama, Dylan/Kelly together or apart, and the guest stars of 1992-1994. Season 4, I think, was the best and strikingly different from any other. My only weakness might be later-season 'stand-in' characters like Matt and Noah, and the ever-changing ownerships of The AfterDark.
