Beverly Hills 90210/Dylan's Choice?
Expert: Carmen Curtis - 7/6/2008
QuestionHey Carmen! I was hoping you could explain something to me. I've never really noticed it until I got my season 3 DVD but in the episode "The Game is Chicken" lines are said that have me confused. In the kitchen when Brenda and Kelly are talking to Cindy Brenda says, "if it were up to Dylan he'd see me on Monday and Kelly on Tuesday." BUT I thought it WAS up to Dylan? Then Brenda uses the line again later on in the episode, "if it were up to Dylan you'd still be saying that on Prom night." But Brenda IT IS up to Dylan! Do you think this was just an error in the script or why does Brenda keep saying "if it were up to Dylan..."? I think Kelly says something to this effect that confused me too but don't quote me on that. Please help me. Thank you.
AnswerHi Shannon,
I remember what lines you're talking about and I think I understand the confusion. You're right, Kelly and Brenda did give Dylan the power to "choose" which of them he wanted to date. However, they wanted him to pick just one of them to date exclusively. Instead, Dylan played around and made it seem like he wanted to date them both at the same time, which made Brenda and Kelly both very frustrated. He kept avoiding choosing between them, which is why Brenda assumed he wanted to "see her on Mondays" and "Kelly on Tuesdays" rather than just see one of them all week. I hope this helps and makes sense.
Thanks for your question,
Carmen
