Beverly Hills 90210/Trying to remember a scene...

Question
I am trying to remember a scene from Beverly Hills 90210, Season 9 or 10, where Dylan comes to see Gina (I believe she was still living at the beach apartment). She is mad at him, but he brings her a shell and tells her something that calms her down. Do I remember this correctly? If yes, which episode is that? And why were they fighting? Many thanks in advance!

Answer
Hi Clara,

The scene you're trying to remember plays at the end of the S9 episode, "I'm Married", 9x15.  Gina had been upset with Dylan because he was confiding in his sponsor while newly off-drugs instead of her, even asking Gina to leave for private phone conversations.  See if this make-up dialogue brings back any memories.

Gina: "Ugh, Dylan.  What do you want?"
Dylan: "See, I was thinking that you and I need to have a little understanding." (she slaps him)
G: "That's about as understanding as I'm gonna get right now."
Dy: "Okay, how about an agreement?"
G: "What kind of agreement?"
Dy: "The kind where we talk about things first and, if that doesn't work, you can slap me."
G: "Yeah, you go first.  ... I'm listening. (he gives her a sea shell, which she accepts, changing her whole disposition)  It's pretty."
Dy: "Listen, um ... revenge.  It's a powerful thing, Gina.  I didn't know it, but it'll get you up in the morning and keep you going all day.  Throw in drugs, you're pretty much flying, and take those two things away and you're pretty much lost."
G: "I think you'll find your way."
Dy: "What if I don't?"
G: (smiles) "What if you do?  ... You're working and you're clean.  (small laugh)  You're even getting a little thoughtful."
Dy: "Yeah, periodically."
G: "Yeah, just for today, right?  I know you're supposed to take things one day at a time right now and, I don't know, maybe this is a little victory." (they hug)

Thanks for the question!

All the best,

Can Dylan solve quadratic equations? What makes up a "mega-burger"? If an answer exists, I probably know it. Whether your question is general, begging the context of all 10 seasons, or completely inane, feel free to drop me a line either way. I will provide episode reference numbers for each response and plan to have some fun with this. Trivia quizzes often need correction, and publications will get their plotlines/characters/relationships mixed up too. I accept dialogue/scene requests, but please limit your inquiry to 1-2 per question. I only know music from the original broadcasts/reruns, not the DVDs. Been a fan since 1990 and didn't miss a beat.

Experience

Well, I began watching "Beverly Hills, 90210" at the tender age of 9 and a half, during its original run. By 11, I was a huge fan; 13, obsessed; 14, growing bitter. I don't like S6 - S10 as much as Seasons 1 - 5. But, technically, I still watch all of them in some way. Do this for 20 years and you'll remember the darndest things.

Education/Credentials
I'd like to say I've earned a "degree" on the life and times of the original eight, with specific concentration on Seasons 1 thru 5, any Jack McKay drama, Dylan/Kelly together or apart, and the guest stars of 1992-1994. Season 4, I think, was the best and strikingly different from any other. My only weakness might be later-season 'stand-in' characters like Matt and Noah, and the ever-changing ownerships of The AfterDark.
