Experience I have been recording this show on VHS since I was nine years old. I have seen every episode at least ten times, sometimes more. Question what season do brenda and dylan break up and they use
the artist rem with the song...losing my religion
Answer The REM "Losing My Religion" song is used in the episode "Parental Guidance Recommended" which is episode # 20 of season 3. Brenda listens to it over and over again and tells Brandon that it was playing when her and Dylan had gotten into a fight a long time prior and at the time - she didn't think that she could feel any worse. She says that she now feels so much worse than she felt even then.
This is not actually the episode that her and Dylan break up though. They basically break up in the episode "Destiny Rides Again" which is episode # 12 of season 3. This is when they confess to dating other people over the summer and take a break (one that basically never ends). In episode # 13 of season 3, Kelly and Dylan officially start dating and Brenda and Rick run into them at a restaurant. Then there is some confusion, and Dylan feels torn between Kelly and Brenda so he takes off for a few days and comes back greeting both Brenda and Kelly with a welcome back hug and kiss. It is in the holiday episode, "It's a Totally Happening Life" (# 16, season 3) that Kelly and Brenda force Dylan to choose between them because they both want to date him at this point.
Finally, in episode # 19, "Back in the High Life Again" - Dylan chooses Kelly, and he and Kelly go to Brenda's house and break the news to her. They also tell her about the summer fling that they had. This is the episode in which the old Brenda/Dylan relationship is clearly over (although there are moments over the next year and a half where it looks like they might get back together) - and then in the next episode is when we see Brenda realize that they are really broken up and when she plays Losing My Religion over and over.
