Question
I've been watching a few 90210 clips that were posted online, so I'm not sure if they are taped versions as aired on television or dvd versions. There's one song that plays at the beginning of the party in the pilot episode; the lyrics go something like "...everybody's looking to fall in love tonight...". I can't find the song anywhere, and I really want to know what it is! Do you think you can help me out? Again, sorry if it's from the dvd version, I don't know where these clips came from.
Thanks.

Answer
Based on the question you asked and the lyrics you mentioned I'm going to say that the song in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBUw_GIRLWE (skip to 9:20) is the song you were enquiring about which unfortunately would have been the replacement music from the DVD's of the Series.   In the originally aired version you see that the band is playing the music you hear when they arrive at Marianne's Party if you skip to 9:00 in this video;  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipcQ0xwgCkc.  I'm really sorry for not being able to answer questions about the DVD music but from what I can tell with regards to title/artist info on the replacement songs, the show has just never made it available to the public.

Here is the information I could find with regards to the music that was in the originally aired Pilot Episode and I apologize for not being able to identify the Dvd music.  If you have any other questions about the series I'd be more than happy to help you:)

I Want Your Love by Transvision Vamp
All I Want Is Everything by Jellyfish
If I Wanted (performed by a band at the party)
Clear To You by Innocence Mission
Motion Of Love by Gene Loves Jezebel (at the club when Jason buys a drink for Brenda)
Wild In The Streets by Garland Jeffries

Expertise

I have been a fan of Beverly Hills, 90210 since 1990 when the series first debuted on television. Every Thursday I had my ritual of watching the show as it was airing on television and also recording it on VHS videotape. I accumulated at least twenty of these recorded videos and would later watch them so often that they ended up being so worn out that they wouldn't play properly anymore. I currently have all ten seasons along with the special "Final Goodbye" episode and I still do watch them often enough to be able to answer any question relating to characters, guest stars, story lines, and the original music played during episodes. I am confident that I would be able to answer any question with regards to the show and consider myself an expert on all things Beverly Hills, 90210.

Experience

I have been a loyal fan of this show for many years and have had many discussions with other fans with regards to all aspects of the series from story lines, regular characters, guest stars, music and various other topics relating to the show. I have also submitted corrections to questions that have been asked on this site and thus consider myself an asset to the Beverly Hills, 90210 Experts community.

Education/Credentials
After having been a fan of the show for over two decades I feel I've earned an unofficial PhD in Know-it-all-ogy when it comes to Beverly Hills, 90210 and I am confident that I would pass any test on any subject relating to the show with flying colors.
