Expert: Carmen Curtis - 7/15/2007
QuestionHi Carmen! If it's not too much trouble could you please give me the dialogue between Brenda and Kelly's scenes in 'Acting Out' and Brenda and Dylan's scene from 'Truth and Consequences'? Thank you.
AnswerHi Karen,
Here are the scenes. . .
"Acting Out"
Brenda confronts Kelly:
K: Hi, come on in, we were just talking about you. Congratulations, you got a callback.
B: Yeah, I saw your name up there too. What a surprise.
Donna: Hi Bren.
B: Hi. I mean all last week when I was helping you find the nerve to audition, remember, you told me you were going out for the part of May.
K: I was, but then Roy Randolf asked me to read for Maggie.
B: And I suppose he asked you out for coffee after the audition too.
K: Yeah, and everyone else who was still stuck there.
B: Well if Roy forced you into it, why didn't you tell me?
K: Honestly, I was afraid of how you would react.
B: Stab me in the back, I bleed.
K: What do you expect me to do, Brenda? Drop out? Make more room for you?
B: Kelly, it's not your part.
K: What makes you think you own it?
B: Why don't you get a life of your own and stop trying to steal mine?
K: I have a life of my own.
B: Yeah, I know all about it. (stalks out)
K: I cannot believe this.
When Kelly comes to Brenda's house:
B: Shouldn't you be getting ready for your big callback?
K: I'm dropping out.
B: You are?
K: Anyway, I just thought you should know. Good luck.
B: Whoa. Wait a minute. What did Randolf say?
K: I haven't told him yet.
B: Look, I don't want to change your mind, believe me, but I don't want Randolf thinking I sabotaged his favorite actress.
K: I don't want to be an actress. I never wanted to be one.
B: So then, why did you put yourself through all this?
K: It's like every time something good happens to you, part of me feels like I'm getting left behind. I don't know, forget it, I can't explain it.
B: Well, how do you think that I felt in high school when you were voted spring queen and Most Beautiful and everything else?
K: I thought you said that stuff didn't matter to you.
B: Well, I couldn't let you know how jealous I was, now could I.
K: I should have known we were in trouble, the first day we met. Remember, we went shopping after school and you spotted that amazing spangly jacket. And I was the one who ended up taking it home.
B: Yeah, well, I would have been totally crushed if you didn't think it was worth having.
K: I always wanted you to have the role of Maggie. I still do. So if there's anything I can do to help, or whatever. . .
B: Well, if you're offering to help me rehearse, I'd love it.
K: You would?
B: Yes. And we can compare notes on what it's like to have an alcoholic boyfriend.
K: Yeah, we can put the "fun" back in dysfunctional. Come on, when we're done Randolf won't know what hit him.
Kelly's pre-audition pep talk:
K: Remember, the operative word is "desperate."
B: Good, because I'm feeling pretty desperate.
K: You'll be fine. Guess what, it's showtime.
B: Laura and Roy look pretty cozy.
K: Don't worry about it, you are the one to beat.
Truth and Consequences:
D: Well hey do ya there, pretty lady, this seat taken?
B: I hear one more Southern-fried accent I may just start screaming.
D: Creative process taking its toll Bren?
B: You have no idea.
D: Well, just think about opening night, all those people cheering for you, your dressing room filled with flowers.
B: Have you ever want something so bad and then you finally get it and it turns into a complete nightmare?
D: Well, you know what they say: be careful what you wish for. Bren, I know you didn't sleep with Roy Randolf.
B: Who told you?
D: It doesn't matter. I know you.
B: You know, you may be the only true friend that I have.
Sorry for the delay in response, I had to watch the episodes again to make sure I had the exact quotes right. Hope this helps!
