Beverly Hills 90210/David's First Time

Question
QUESTION: I am watching the episode where Brandon goes to the White House.  It is also the one where David sleeps with Ariel (I think was her name).  He tells Donna that it wasn't his first time to sleep with someone.  I watch this show everyday and I don't remember him sleeping with anyone else.  I was just wondering who and when?!?

ANSWER: Hi Melinda,

The reason you're confused is because the first person David slept with WAS Ariel Hunter, the record company rep in "Vital Signs" that he met just one episode prior to the S4 2-hr finale in which the truth is exposed.  When Donna finds out that he cheated on her, she asks if it was his first time.  He admits, "... No.  But only with her."  In other words, David had slept with Ariel before Donna caught them in the limo together.  It's up to the viewer to decide when and how often that might have been.  Personally, I assumed it was just one other time, probably as Mardi Gras Week/the carnival was starting up and he was overjoyed to be playing the keyboards with Babyface.  Ariel stood by as his biggest fan (and the last time he had an admirer like that, it was Nikki, whom he kissed while still with Donna).  However, it should be noted that him and Ariel had a flirtation right from the start.

Thanks for the question!

All the best,

Mel

QUESTION: Thanks!  It was the quote "...No. But only with her" that I misunderstood.  I took it as first time with her but there was another(or others).  Thanks for clearing it up!

Answer
You're welcome!  Glad I could clear that up for you.  Now, because you sent this as a Follow-up Question, I think I'm required to say that in 250 words or more.  LOL.  So here's the dialogue from David and Donna's break-up scene in "Mr. Walsh Goes to Washington" (Part 2):

Dd: Donna, I don't know what else there is to say.
D: Well there's nothing else to say, so why don't you just pack up your things and leave me alone?!
Dd: Look, I know this is the end of us.  I just hope one day you'll be able to forgive me.
D: Yeah, well don't count on it.
Dd: Come on, Donna.  I tried to be faithful.  I tried as hard as I could, but it was right there.  It was right in front of me.  I couldn't say 'no'!
D:  Well now that you've done it, you'll just have to live with that, won't you, David?
Dd: Look, you may not believe me, but I really am sorry.
D: Just tell me one thing.  Last night in the limousine, was that your first time?
Dd: Donna ...
D: Answer me!  Was that your first time?
Dd: ... No, it wasn't.
D: I didn't think so.
Dd: But only with her.  Donna, please.  I'm sorry.
D: No, you're just sorry about one thing, and that's that you got caught.  Now get out and don't ever come back!
Dd: Donna ...
D: Get out!

In the future, you can just click on the 'rate and comment' option to say, 'Thanks', instead of sending a follow-up.  :)

(I hope the original question/answer remains, cause I clicked 'preview' for this reply and it just kind of vanished.  Anyway, David's first time is still evident in the dialogue.)

Can Dylan solve quadratic equations? What makes up a "mega-burger"? If an answer exists, I probably know it. Whether your question is general, begging the context of all 10 seasons, or completely inane, feel free to drop me a line either way. I will provide episode reference numbers for each response and plan to have some fun with this. Trivia quizzes often need correction, and publications will get their plotlines/characters/relationships mixed up too. I accept dialogue/scene requests, but please limit your inquiry to 1-2 per question. I only know music from the original broadcasts/reruns, not the DVDs. Been a fan since 1990 and didn't miss a beat.

Experience

Well, I began watching "Beverly Hills, 90210" at the tender age of 9 and a half, during its original run. By 11, I was a huge fan; 13, obsessed; 14, growing bitter. I don't like S6 - S10 as much as Seasons 1 - 5. But, technically, I still watch all of them in some way. Do this for 20 years and you'll remember the darndest things.

Education/Credentials
I'd like to say I've earned a "degree" on the life and times of the original eight, with specific concentration on Seasons 1 thru 5, any Jack McKay drama, Dylan/Kelly together or apart, and the guest stars of 1992-1994. Season 4, I think, was the best and strikingly different from any other. My only weakness might be later-season 'stand-in' characters like Matt and Noah, and the ever-changing ownerships of The AfterDark.
