Thanks Crystal for replying fast!!!

Can you explain the episode dylan and brenda go fishing?  And why do dylan and kelly break up during the 4th season?  Thanks
Answer -
Hello Elizabeth,

First, it appears you're asking about the 4th season episode "The Little Fish". However, there is a first season episode titled "The Party Fish" as well.

Do you want me to explain what happens between Brenda and Dylan when they go fishing? Not sure what you're asking here.

When Dylan and Kelly break up, are you talking about the time she decides she wants to see other people because she's interested in John Sears? Or are you talking about their break-up at the end of the season? Or are you wondering about how they had broken up during their summer in Europe?

I'll be working on your question, what I think you're asking anyway, otherwise.

Take care,
Crystal

oops i'm sorry if I wasn't really specific.  Yes it is the little fish i'm asking for with the brenda and dylan scenes.  As for kelly and Dylan when do they officially break up in season 4 before she gets with brandon. Thank you.  Sorry for not being more specific.

Answer
Hello again,

There were five scenes that featured Brenda & Dylan together. I'll include some of the actual dialogue used, can't supply all because it's a lot.

The first scene is where Brenda arrives at the Peach Pit and Dylan is already there.

Brenda: Hey, you remember me?
Dylan: Vaguely, yes. How are you?
Brenda: I'm okay. Aren't you supposed to be in school or something?
Dylan: Couldn't I ask you the same question?
Brenda: I'm glad you didn't.
Dylan: I'm sorry you did.

Brenda asks if she can join him, and he tells her to go ahead on one condition: no college talk. She says that's an easy promise to keep. Dylan then comments that they need some service, which Brenda announces she's in no hurry. This causes Dylan to stare at Brenda, who smiles at him and looks away.
-----------------------
Next scene continues at the Peach Pit.

Brenda is telling Dylan about her college experience in Minnesota: roommate wanting to have her boyfriend over at night and boring classes. Dylan agrees that the whole college situation is lame. Brenda comments how her parents don't understand when she tries to explain her problems to them, Dylan tells her that he has the same problem with Kelly. They agree that there are other options besides going to college. Then Dylan looks over at Brenda again:

Dylan: So what are you doing today?
Brenda: Nothing. What are you doing?
Dylan: Nothing. We could do it together.

Brenda smiles at Dylan. The next scene switches to show them running out of the Peach Pit back door and jumping into his car together and driving off.
----------------------

Next scene shows them walking along the ocean pier talking about their mutual experiences in Paris, France. Both admitted to getting wrapped up in the mystique of the "Old World". Dylan mentions Rimbaud and Baudelaire and Brenda comments that he's the only guy she knows that knows who those people are. There conversation continues:

Brenda: Well, I loved Paris. And it must be incredible when you're there with someone you love.
Dylan: Huh, I don't know about that. I knew we were in trouble on the Left Bank. Kelly had dragged me into, like, the 20th shoe store of the day. And I just snuck out to find Balzac's house.
Brenda: I went to Balzac's house.
Dylan: How long did it take you to find it?
Brenda: I will never tell.
Dylan: Well, looking's the the fun part. There's not much to it when you get there.
Brenda: You know, I really missed you Dylan.
Dylan: I missed you too, Bren. I called you in Minnesota to wish you good luck.
Brenda: I could have used it.

They reach the railing at the end of the pier. They joke about continuing to walk right off the pier. After noticing a Spanish speaking family fish, they decide they will also fish.
----------------------

Next scene continues at the pier. Dylan is trying to put the bait on the hook. It slips out of his fingers, so Brenda tries herself reminding Dylan that she is from the "Land of 10,000 Lakes" (Minnesota). She is talking about what the secret is, but she ends up dropping the hook that gets caught in Dylan's sweatshirt. When she goes to unhook him, he leans slightly towards her and breathes in her scent and tightens his left arm around her. This causes Brenda to look up at him and they lock eyes. Brenda pulls away while maintaining eye contact.

Brenda: I've seen that look before. (It's a look that is wondering where things could lead between them. A look that also reveals that there are still strong feelings for each other under the surface.)
Dylan: It's the same one you have.
Brenda: We can't go down this road again.
Dylan: Why not?
Brenda: I think because I don't want to ruin this feeling that's between us now.
Dylan: (slightly dejected) Yeah, you're right. We're probably better off as just friends.
Brenda: Close friends.
Dylan: The closest.

They smile at each other.
-----------------------

The final scene is where they are wrapping up their fishing. They didn't have much luck catching anything and Brenda suggested that maybe they should have rented scuba gear instead. Dylan says it reminds him of a joke his dad told him, it had cracked him up. Brenda guesses that it's a blonde joke.

Dylan: No. what do you call the dumbest fish in school? (Brenda shakes her head.) Dinner. Hah! Get it? Dinner? School? Fish? Dumb?
Brenda: I get it.
Dylan: So, why aren't you laughing, Bren?
Brenda: Because that would make us dumber than the dumbest fish.
Dylan: Right, a couple of uneducated mackerel. (Brenda's line pulls indicating she's caught a fish.) Hey Bren...
Brenda: Flounders without a college degree. Oh! (she reels in the fish)

They both discover that the fish is too small and decide to throw it back. Dylan asks if she's done now with their day. Brenda agrees that she is and that it was a great day. Dylan remarks that it's too bad they can't spend their life fishing. However, they both agree that with a guy that knows Rimbaud and Baudelaire and a girl that went out of her way to find Balzac's house, that it would be a waste of their lives not to go to college. While it's unspoken, both have talked the other into giving college another try.
===========================

Kelly & Dylan break up for the last time at the end of the episode "Vital Signs". Outside the hospital where Dylan has dropped Kelly off to visit Andrea Kelly asks Dylan what is going on with them. She states that if you remove the sex, they have no relationship. Dylan states that it must be a communication breakdown. Kelly wants to know if they can fix things, Dylan is willing to try if Kelly is. Kelly gets out of the car. When Dylan starts to talk about his plans for his investment in Kevin's company, Kelly makes a face. Dylan wants to know what's her problem. Kelly accuses him of spending his profit before he's made it. Dylan notices a negative vibe when it comes to his family and calls Kelly on it. He accuses Kelly of having a problem with anything that takes his attention away from her. Kelly had complained about Erica, Suzanne, Kevin, and his friendship with Brenda in the recent past. Kelly finally decides that the problems in their relationship cannot be fixed and says so. Dylan agrees and tells her that he thinks it's time they see other people. Kelly states she knows how that song goes. Dylan says she should because she taught it to him. Kelly asks if that's it between them, Dylan agrees that it is. He puts on his sunglasses, then starts his car and drives off leaving her standing there.

Expertise

I have seen all 10 seasons of 90210 and have every episode on tape to locate answers. My expertise is on the first 6 seasons and the characters Brenda and Dylan, but I will attempt to answer any question pertaining to the show. Please no scene/dialogue questions because they are very time-consuming and frustrating. However, I will be happy to clarify misunderstood dialogue due to whispering and such if I'm able to. I will attempt to answer any song question for the original airdates and syndication. NO DVD SONG QUESTIONS PLEASE. Please see my "Life Experience" in my profile for song question updates, it may pertain to your question.

Experience

I have every single episode on tape to find the answers. I watched and taped the show religiously. (All requests for copies of my videotapes/episodes will be declined.)
Update: The song used in "Crunch Time" during David's meth addiction is "Living In A Fantasy" by The Rainbow Band. Many thanks to the fellow 90210 Fan that contacted me with the info when they tracked it down. Also, the song used in "One Wedding and a Funeral" that Dylan & Toni dance to is "Nobody Knows Me" by Lyle Lovett. Same song is used during the scene where Dylan is crying while holding the wedding dress and then kitten. David & Donna's wedding song is "Spend My Life With You" by Eric Benet & Tamia. Same song was Steve & Janet's wedding song.
