AnswerHi Val,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, I wanted to give your question some thought. Some of the articles that Brandon wrote for the paper were really good. Although one of my personal faves is Donna's condom speech ("don't you think you ought to teach those kids how to swim?") I doubt that is appropriate for your yearbook. :) Here are some possible quotes:
"It is when we stop looking at people as individuals that we, as a human race, are in trouble." Brandon wrote that in the paper in the episode "Ashes to Ashes" (where the African American family moves in, season 2)
"If this is living, it's way overrated." Dylan to Kelly when Val first moves to town
"Mad, bad, and dangerous to know." Dylan to Brandon in the 2nd episode, "The Green Room"
"There's an expression surfers use for the curl of a perfect wave called the green room, and getting inside is the perfect ride. To a new student like myself, the green room might as well be West Beverly, b/c getting inside it, to the in crowd, the in parties, in clothes, and in cars, requires a skill they never taught us back in Minnesota. Or so I thought. That was when I took it all at face value, when I believed people's images and played along with them. What I've learned is that appearances can be very deceiving, and if you believe them you deceive yourself more than anyone else. I know better now, so when you meet me in the halls, or on the lawn, or in class, I'll be looking for more than meets the eye, and I hope you will too, because that's where the green room is." --Brandon's article in the Green Room episode
"It doesn't matter what you say about someone one they're gone. What matters is how you treat them while they're still here." David in the "Next 50 Years" episode where Scott dies
Andrea: (from Valedictorian Speech) Today we stand here united as a class. Tomorrow we go our separate ways as individuals…on our own and individually. We do this to follow paths, unfathomable paths, which weave before us…We do so with the certainty… with the certainty…that we don't have the faintest idea what we're doing at all…Which could be a very frightening prospect in a world where the… in a world where the boundaries of nations and the balance of nature can change overnight. Except that the years that we have spent at West Beverly have given us the foundation to face the future. But, we haven't just learned facts and figures, logic and reasoning skills, but we have learned the value of friendship— friendship, loyalty, and love— which will not be diminished just because we may not end up together. The memories that we have shared will not go away simply because we do. So even if the future does not always meet our expectations, or the fates are cruel to us at times, no one can ever take this moment from me… From me, from you, from any of us. No one can ever take away this moment in time."
"Sometimes the smallest thing brings harmony in through the eye" from Kelly's poem to Brandon during the almost-wedding
"Love just gets in the way, confuses people, makes them scattered" --Dylan during the camping trip
"I have no regrets." Kelly to Brandon right before Bran leaves
"Teach him a lesson with your life, not your death." --Val to the nice gay teen David worked with at the car wash during the season 8 Xmas episode
Hope this helps! Congrats on graduating this year.
