Hello and thankyou for taking my question. I am trying to find out WHY Jesus said "the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these" in referring to the little children. And why we must receive the kingdom as a child. I would certainly appreciate a personal opinion but it would also be useful for me if you could back it up with scripture. Thankyou.

Hi Pete,

Thanks for this great question.  I believe that the reason that Jesus said that is that Children have simple faith.  They simly take you at face value.  If you simply believe what Jesus said, without skepticism and doubt, like a little child would, then you can be saved.

Mat 18:4  Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Mat 18:5  And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.


Mat 17:20  And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
